What is Executive Team Effectiveness?
This becomes particularly important when organisations face complex and systemic problems. Climate change, biodiversity loss and sustainability transitions cut across conventional organisational and functional boundaries. They require executive teams capable of integrating different perspectives, questioning established assumptions, working with multiple stakeholders and exercising leadership collectively.
The CSA approach to Executive Teams
We combine research on team effectiveness, transformational and distributed leadership, strength-based development and team reflexivity with practical assessment and coaching. Formal leadership remains important, but effective teams also distribute leadership according to expertise and circumstance. Team reflexivity provides the mechanism through which teams review experience, develop shared mental models and adapt how they work.
This approach also recognises that executive teams lead beyond themselves. Their effectiveness ultimately depends on their capacity to mobilise the wider organisation around strategy, culture, sustainability and change.
What are the benefits of Executive Teams?
- Better use of the expertise and strengths distributed across the team
- More effective decision-making, constructive challenge and collaboration
- Greater capacity to learn, adapt and respond to complexity
- Stronger collective leadership of strategy, culture and sustainability
